Uses should/should not


It is a modal verb.



To express that something is probable or expected to be like that.

John should be here by 2:00 PM.


He should be bringing Jennifer with him.


You should be dancing.

You should be enjoying.


Stiven should go and talk to Martha and solve that issue.


My students should write the examples.

They should be writing the sentences.


To ask questions


Should we turn left at this street? Yes. you should./ No, you should not.


Should I stay or should I go?


Shouldn’t you be getting ready for work?



Shouldn't you be getiing ready for school?



Shouldn't you be studying for tomorrow's test?



To show give recommendation or even an opinion.

To GIVE ADVICE.


You should stop eating fast food.”


You should start practicing any sport.


LOCKDOWN

People should wash the hands many times a day.


“You should go for walks more often.”

YOU SHOULD GO OUT AND TAKE A SUNBATH.


If someone has the flu, what should you recommend?

You should take some medication.


You should drink a lime and ginger tea.


You should bundle up.

You should wear warm clothes.

MUST- MUST NOT

Necessity



‘I must get my hair cut before my meeting tomorrow’. 


I must prepare my interview.


I must study, review, be prepared for the test.


I must brush my teeth right now.



Possibility


When we are talking about possible causes of a situation or action, we can use the word ‘must’ to show we are fairly sure of the reason behind something. For example:


The cookies are missing. Sally must have taken them.
